I know this is a cooking blog, but sometimes there are things happening behind the scenes that are so inspiring I can’t help but share them with you! With talks about a ceasefire in Gaza, media attention should turn to the children, who have suffered unimaginable trauma In the face of adversity, As we speak, the amount of child amputees from indiscriminate bombing is the largest in history, with at least 10 children losing their limbs every single day. More than 17,000 people have lost limbs to bombs in Gaza.
Since every hospital has been bombed as well, with more than 1000 healthcare professionals that have been killed, many of these children get dismal if any care at all for their wounds. Many children get amputated with no anesthesia, since there is a blockade on medical supplies as well as food, clothing, and all the essentials of life.

Recently I got to be a part of the welcome crew for one of these amputees named Farah. Farah is a 19 year old girl who lost both her eye and leg from a bombing. She is one of less than 5% of children that got to leave Gaza to get treatment, thanks to an organization called Heal Palestine. To see her heartwarming welcome from the San Francisco International airport, check out my new video below.
